-
CJ is a dynamic and charismatic performer whose storytelling performances use song, actions, gestures, call and response, characterisation, voice, comedy, improvisation and movement to engage and inspire children (and adults!) of all ages.
CJ has been sharing stories and delighting audiences for over fifteen years. They have performed for high profile organisations such as the BBC, the British Museum, the British Film Institute, Somerset House, the High Commission of India and the Barbican Centre, as well as sharing stories in a wide range of community, education and outreach settings: schools, colleges theatres, churches, mosques, temples, refugee centres, hospitals, pupil referral units, libraries and museums
CJ is incredibly passionate about storytelling work in community and outreach settings and makes a conscious commitment to developing projects with under-represented and disadvantaged groups. CJ has written and directed storytelling theatre projects and performances for children in underprivileged areas in London (Greenwich and Lewisham Young People’s Theatre, Half Moon Young People’s Theatre), with vulnerable teenagers and young adults (REWRITE, Southwark Theatre Education Partnership), young refugees and asylum seekers (Refugee Youth, Migrants Organise) and cross-generational community projects (BBC Our Sound with the BBC Concert Orchestra). In India CJ has devised performances with children from marginalised rural communities (through ongoing relationships with the Kattaikkuttu Gurukulam), as well as children living in the seaside slums of Chennai (Pudiyador).
CJ is currently performing and running storytelling training across London, England and the world.
